A liturgy is a gathering of people in faith for the purpose of worship, prayer, or participation in the sacraments. Our most common liturgy is the Mass. Examples of other liturgies are: weddings, baptism ceremonies, reconciliation liturgies, funeral liturgies, and anointing liturgies.
The Mass is the highest, most treasured form of worship for Catholics. Its two most important parts are the proclamation of the Word of God and the celebration of the Eucharist. All of Catholic life is directed to the Mass, and all of Catholic life flows from the Mass.
